Deadly daylight shooting under investigation at Delta / Surrey border

A man died in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon near a busy shopping center.

Eyewitnesses said the Global News shots ended around 5 a.m. Saturday near 72 Avenue and Scott Road.

The area near Scottsdale Center parking remains behind the crime scene tape, and a yellow wire was placed on a vehicle in the eastbound pavement of 72 Avenue.

A Shell gas station has also been closed as officers investigate the scene and interview witnesses.

At the time many people were in the area, it is unclear whether this shooting was targeted or that anyone else was hurt.

Delta police confirmed that their officers are investigating a serious incident, but no details have been provided on the identity of the deceased or if this shooting is linked to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict.
