Oilers sign KHL goaltender, draft pick Ilya Konovalov, on entry-level contract

Edmonton Oils have signed Ilya Konovalov, who scored a two-year entry-level contract.

Konovalov, 22, averaged 2.29 goals and a .923 save percentage in 19 games this season with a 9-7-2 record for Lokomotiv Yaroslav in the Competitive Hockey League.

The 5-foot-11, 196-pound goalkeeper has played in 111 career KHL games with the locomotive, accumulating a 53-41-9 record, 2.14 goals against average, a .922 percentile and 14 shutouts.

In 13 playoff games, Konovalov has recorded, on average, a .898 save percentage and 2.83 goals against a shutout.

Konovalov was selected by the Oilers in the 85th over in the third round in the 2019 NHL draft.
