Quebec’s junior cabinet minister Marie-Eve Proulx resigned amid harassment allegations

Quebec’s regional economic development minister has resigned after accusations of psychologically harassing his staff.

Marie-Eve Proulx met today with Premier François Legault, who called the decision to resign from his duties to reporters as reciprocal.

The Proulx Alliance will remain in the Avenir Quebec Caucus as a member representing the Côte-du-Sud ride, a district in 2018. She was also the minister responsible for the Chaudier-Appalaches and Bas-Saint-Laurent regions.

He has been the subject of controversy in recent months and more than ten people in his office have been dismissed or resigned.

Legault says he was told about the problems in his office in February 2020 and assigned a coach to help him manage his staff, but says the situation has not improved enough.

After a confidential settlement, Proulx avoided appearing before a labor tribunal in April to answer two complaints from a former ride-hailing employee.
