The ministry said that two BC student-aid websites are temporarily shut down after possible hacking

The Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training says the two British Columbia websites have been temporarily shut down, as both have been compromised.

The home pages of StudentAidBC and LearnLiveBC were replaced on Sunday and allegedly with a statement from a hacker group.

Affected sites provide application assistance or details about scholarships, grants, bursaries, loans and other financial programs for secondary students.

A statement from the ministry said that it has become alert to the problem and is investigating, as well as the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

The ministry says it is not known if any personal information has been compromised.

Both sites have now been disabled to prevent any additional risk while the ministry says its information technology staff is working to fix the issues.
